The Sheraton Tokoriki Resort in Fiji opened only 6 months ago, and I was recently given the opportunity to visit the relaxing Mamanuca islands and stay at the resort.
Our check in experience on arrival was friendly and efficient. The ferry had arrived early but the resort had our room ready. The room was spacious with a separate master bedroom, and the bathroom was gorgeous with a private walled garden area that could be seen from the floor to ceiling window.
Dining at the resorts restaurant was a delight. We ate delicious food and was offered a range of dining options, and while it seemed a little expensive at the time, once converted back to NZ dollars it was comparable with a good quality NZ restaurant and well worth it.
Relaxing around the pool area and swimming in its beautiful waters which are connected by both a lap pool and a shallow area for small children is a joy. This is a child friendly resort so if you were looking for an adult only retreat I would recommend the neighbouring Tokoriki Island Resort.
Tokoriki Island Resort is 100m away and separated by a small hill with a heli pad. We visited this resort for lunch one afternoon and found the staff to be very welcoming and friendly. Great food and great strawberry daiquiri’s which are refreshing on a hot sunny day. Remember to take your wallet if you choose to do this, as they can’t charge back to your room at the Sheraton.
Water sports at the resort
The resort offers 101 guest rooms with retreats having their own plunge pool. For those with children there is a kids club and plenty of watersports to enjoy. A luxurious spa is available for those wishing the relax and unwind on Fiji time.
As much as we didn’t want to leave, when we did, we flew by helicopter back to the mainland to connect with our international flight. Not only is this a time-efficient way to travel but you get to experience breathtaking views of the Island that is surrounded by coral reefs and rich marine life.
